Job Summary

The University of Austin is seeking a driven, personable, and mission-aligned Admissions Officer focused on Recruitment & Outreach to join its growing Admissions Team. This position will play a central role in introducing prospective students, families, and college counselors to UATX through school visits, presentations, individual conversations, conferences, special programs, and other recruitment initiatives. This role focuses primarily on recruitment and outreach, rather than application review.

Approximately 50-60% of the position will involve travel throughout Texas and nationwide, with additional responsibilities supporting the planning, promotion, and execution of admissions-related special programs and events. This position will begin as soon as possible, joining our team mid-cycle. We are looking for a quick study who can learn our process fast and start representing UATX within weeks. Onboarding will be provided for the successful applicant, who will have the opportunity to shadow initial recruitment visits before managing their own portfolio of schools.

Responsibilities
Recruitment & Outreach
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of UATX’s mission, educational philosophy, curriculum, culture, and admissions policies.
  • Represent UATX at high schools, college fairs, conferences, counselor events, and other recruitment opportunities throughout Texas and nationwide.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations about UATX to prospective students, parents, college counselors, educators, and other audiences, adapting messaging as needed.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with high school counselors, administrators, teachers, and other educational partners.
  • Identify and cultivate schools, organizations, and communities whose students may be particularly well suited to UATX.
  • Manage assigned recruitment territories, including travel planning and prioritization of schools and events.
  • Engage prospective students and families in conversation and provide thoughtful, accurate guidance throughout the admissions process.
  • Conduct cold outreach to strategically chosen schools and organizations.
  • Follow up with prospective students, counselors, and other contacts generated through recruitment activities and maintain accurate records in Element451, the University’s CRM.
Special Programs & Events
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Special Programs to assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of the University's High School Honors Program, campus visits, and other admissions events.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective students and families to promote High School Honors Programs, campus visits, and other admissions events.
  • Assist with communications, registration, logistics, participant follow-up, and on-site execution of special programs.
  • Travel to and participate in off-campus High School Honors Programs and other special recruitment events as needed.
  • Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable representative of UATX during events, receptions, campus visits, parent/student Q&A sessions, and webinars.
Admissions & Departmental Support
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Recruitment and Director of Admissions regarding recruitment and outreach practices and strategy.
  • Support application, enrollment, yield, and prospective-student engagement initiatives during peak periods and as needed.
  • Provide feedback from students, counselors, families, and schools to inform recruitment strategy and institutional communications.
  • Track recruitment activity and contribute to regular assessment of outreach efforts.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively—both locally and nationally—including frequent overnight travel and occasional evening or weekend commitments.
  • Ability to represent the University professionally and thoughtfully in a wide range of settings and tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport with students, families, educators, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency with standard office and communication technologies and the ability to learn admissions and CRM systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel independently.
Preferred
  • Experience in college admissions, enrollment management, independent and/or secondary-school education, college counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with schools or educational communities whose missions emphasize academic excellence, classical or liberal education, STEM, entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, or related areas.
    • Experience in STEM, entrepreneurship, innovation, or technology is especially valuable.
  • Experience planning or executing educational programs, conferences, or student events.
Physical Demands

  • Standing for extended periods at college fairs, school visits, presentations, and campus events.
  • Driving or flying to recruitment destinations, including long drives and frequent overnight trips.
  • Lifting, carrying, and transporting recruitment materials, display equipment, and event supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
