Job summary

Lamar University is seeking Regional Admissions Counselors to recruit prospective students and guide families through pre-admission and matriculation at LU. This on-campus role operates from the Welcome Center and reports to the Assistant Directors of Admissions – Recruitment.

The position requires willingness for extensive travel, evening/weekend hours, and the ability to meet enrollment goals while serving diverse populations. Excellent communication and mentoring skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing bachelor's degree.
• 1 year of related recruitment, marketing, or customer service experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Recruit prospective freshman students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public.
• Facilitate the pre-admission and conversion process through various sales methods and recruitment strategies.
• Attend events and make presentations to promote Lamar University and its programs.
• Facilitate and implement recruitment planning and strategies for assigned territories and specialty areas.
• Assist prospective students with ApplyTexas, FAFSA, and other pre-college requirements and questions.
• Train and mentor new Admissions Counselors and Regional Admissions Counselors during their first recruitment cycle.
• Work with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies to prepare students for college enrollment.
• Attend and assist in mandatory recruitment events on-campus and off-campus.

Job description

Lamar University Regional Admissions Counselors are responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University programs to undergraduate students, pre-admission advisement and matriculation to ensure enrollment goals are met. This position is an on-campus position and will office from the Welcome Center and reports directly to the Assistant Directors of Admissions – Recruitment.

• Recruit prospective freshman students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public
• Facilitating the pre-admission and conversion process through various sales methods and recruitment strategies to include, but not limited to automated and personalized communication, community college visits, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etc.
• Attending events and making presentations to communicate with prospective students and their parents to promote Lamar University and its programs
• Facilitate and implement recruitment planning and strategies for assigned territories and recruitment specialty areas based on managed yield data within a database system.
• Assisting all prospective students, and their families with the ApplyTexas Application, Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) and other pre-college preparation requirements and questions
• Train and mentor new Admissions Counselors and Regional Admissions Counselors throughout their first recruitment cycle through one-on-ones, team meetings, chat availability, shadowing opportunities, etc.
• Working directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and enrollment at LU
• Attend, collaborate, and assist in mandatory recruitment events both on-campus and off campus, including but not limited to Cardinal View, Admitted Student Day, Cardinal Sendoffs, Internal Staff Conferences, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree OR a combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing bachelor's degree.
• 1 year of related recruitment, marketing, or customer service experience.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bilingual (English and Spanish).
• Sales experience and familiarity with customer relationship management systems (CRMs), relationship selling, and other sales techniques.
