Job summary

Lamar University is seeking Regional Admissions Counselors to recruit prospective students and provide pre-admission advisement to ensure enrollment goals are met. This on-campus role operates from the Welcome Center and collaborates with the Admissions – Recruitment team.

Responsibilities include attending events, conducting presentations, guiding applicants through ApplyTexas and FAFSA, and mentoring new counselors. Extensive travel within LU zones and evenings/weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree OR a combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing bachelor’s degree.
• 1 year of related recruitment, marketing, or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Recruit prospective freshman students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public.
• Facilitating the pre-admission and conversion process through various sales methods and recruitment strategies to include, but not limited to automated and personalized communication, community college visits, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etc.
• Attending events and making presentations to communicate with prospective students and their parents to promote Lamar University and its programs
• Facilitate and implement recruitment planning and strategies for assigned territories and recruitment specialty areas based on managed yield data within a database system.
• Assisting all prospective students, and their families with the ApplyTexas Application, FAFSA and other pre-college requirements
• Train and mentor new Admissions Counselors and Regional Admissions Counselors throughout their first recruitment cycle through one-on-ones, team meetings, chat availability, shadowing opportunities, etc.
• Working directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and enrollment at LU
• Attend, collaborate, and assist in mandatory recruitment events both on-campus and off campus, including but not limited to Cardinal View, Admitted Student Day, Cardinal Sendoffs, Internal Staff Conferences, etc.

Job Summary

Lamar University Regional Admissions Counselors are responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University programs to undergraduate students, pre-admission advisement and matriculation to ensure enrollment goals are met. This position is an on-campus position and will office from the Welcome Center and reports directly to the Assistant Directors of Admissions – Recruitment.

Special Note:

Essential Job Functions

• Recruit prospective freshman students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public

• Working directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and enrollment at LU

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree OR a combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing bachelor’s degree.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bilingual (English and Spanish).
• Sales experience and familiarity with customer relationship management systems (CRMs), relationship selling, and other sales techniques.
