Job summary

Bates College is seeking an Admission Counselor in Lewiston, ME to recruit and enroll a diverse class of students. You will work with deans, counselors, and campus partners to implement recruitment plans and guide families through admission and financial aid.

The role requires travel, weekend/evening work, and collaboration across departments. A Bachelor’s degree and driver’s license are required, with 0–1 year experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • 0-1 year of experience in admission or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with higher education environment preferred.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically 4–6 weeks.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and non-traditional schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Manage geographic territories and develop an annual recruitment plan.
  • Represent Bates at high school visits, college fairs, and recruitment events.
  • Evaluate first-year and transfer applications in teams.
  • Lead information sessions and counsel families through admission and financial aid.
  • Engage alumni, students, counselors, and community partners on outreach.
  • Collaborate with Admission and other college offices.
  • Attend designated conferences and professional development activities.
  • Serve on multiple office teams.
