Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking an Admissions Counselor on a per diem basis to support patient intake activities at our Maitland/Winter Park facilities near Orlando, Florida.

You will handle intake calls, gather clinical information, verify insurance, and guide new admissions and families through the process. The role requires a Master’s degree in a human service field or RN licensure with at least two years in mental health, plus strong communication and crisis-intervention skills.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree from an accredited university in a human service area or RN licensure from an accredited school and at least two years of experience in the mental health field.
• Experience: Minimum two-years of clinical experience in psychiatric setting preferred.
• License/Certification: Current license from the State of Florida preferred for LCSW, LMFT, or LMHC; current license for Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• Skills: Above average communication skills, high level of initiative, motivation, independent judgement and organizational skills. Ability to relate to those emotionally disturbed and in crisis.
• Physical Requirements: Medium demand, mentally. Requires extensive sitting, writing, and talking on the telephone. Ability to assist in crisis intervention, physical intervention with out of control patients.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient intake process and handles intake calls.
• Obtains clinical information and determines eligibility; completes intake assessments.
• Verifies insurance coverage to determine viability for admission.
• Greets new admissions and families and answers questions.
• Sets up facility tours and orients residents and families to policies.
