Job summary

Kilgore College's Office of Admissions seeks a proactive Admissions Counselor to help develop, implement, and drive an aggressive enrollment program. You will manage admissions and registration records and support recruitment activities at college day/night events, guided tours, and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two years of full-time public relations, public speaking, customer service, admissions, or recruitment experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and data entry required.
  • Familiarity with the Jenzabar EX student information system preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance of a full-time work day.
  • Represents KC at College Day/Night programs.
  • Schedules and conduct regular visits KC service area schools.
  • Assists with the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Directs targeted outreach to underrepresented populations.
  • Serves as staff sponsor to Ranger Ambassadors.
  • Coordinates campus tours.
  • Trains and manages Junior Admissions Counselors.
  • Management of visitor center/general information desk.
  • Coordinates Operation Application and other enrollment initiatives.
  • Maintains reports, data, and statistics related to specific assignments and tasks.
  • Write, run, and distribute office and campus specific reports as needed.
  • Manages additional prospective student outreach to adult learners, veterans, and minority populations and junior high/middle/elementary schools.
  • Assists student success from recruitment through to graduation.
  • Contributes to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Provides general information about KC in both oral and written formats.
  • Represent KC in a cordial, professional manner in both action and appearance.
  • Assists students, faculty, and staff with specific records questions.
  • Contribute to the overall welcoming environment of KC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position summary:

As part of the office of admissions team, this position helps develop, implement, and is directly involved in an aggressive, comprehensive enrollment program. Minimum Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Extensive overnight, evening, weekend work and travel is required.
  • This position requires a valid Texas driver’s license.
  • This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
  • Sufficient dexterity, agility, and physical condition to perform routine office duties are necessary including the ability to lift a minimum of twenty pounds.

All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.
