PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Clinical professional responsible for facilitating admissions, clinical intake assessments, and utilization review processes to ensure continuity of care for patients and optimal resource utilization.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Respond to inquiries about the facility within policy timeframes.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Perform benefit eligibility checks and communicate findings.
  • Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel on referrals.
  • Coordinate admissions and transfers within the facility.
  • Maintain knowledge of milieu management.
  • Communicate projected admissions promptly.
  • Ensure receipt of all clinical information prior to admission.
  • Complete pre-admission assessments and communicate with physicians.
  • Prepare and maintain medical records for authorization.
  • Complete pre-authorization for treatment and admission.
  • Admit patients in the registration system and complete forms.
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude.
  • Coordinate care for non-admitted patients and ensure follow-up.
  • Demonstrate urgency regarding patient safety and customer service.
  • Conduct safety checks as per guidelines.
Other Functions
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a social services field required (if allowed by state).
  • Master's degree in related fields or RN preferred.
  • One or more years’ experience in mental/behavioral health preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications
  • Current licensure as required (RN, CAC, etc.).
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
  • First aid may be required depending on state or facility.
