Position Summary
The State University of New York at Geneseo Office of Admissions is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented, equity-minded individual who has a demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education for an Admissions Counselor position.
Responsibilities for this position include actively recruiting and counseling prospective students. Activities include, but are not limited to: effective correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written and verbal communication through territory management, interviewing and virtual and in-person presentations; travel including high school visits, college fairs, and regional presentations; event planning; application assessment; representing the College and department at on and off-campus events; and assisting with various projects in the office.
Candidates are required to work alternative schedules during recruitment periods. Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship
Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree and be highly motivated, creative, flexible, detail-focused, and adaptable to changing environments.
Must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents supporting campus and department missions.
Previous experience in higher education or related field. This can include work-study or internship experience.
Additional requirements include:
Master’s degree in higher education or related field.
Professional or paraprofessional experience in admissions or commensurate experience in student life.
