Those who work in this entry level role will be responsible for allfront-line customer services including communication related to theAdmissions process of Seton Hall University. The AdmissionsCounselor will be responsible for receiving and delivering allelectronic, voice and in-person related information pertaining tothe inquiry application and enrollment processes of the Office ofAdmissions. The Admissions Counselor will be responsible for assessing the customer service provided by the Office of Admissionsand suggesting ways to enhance the services provided. Additionally,this position will be responsible for meeting with and speaking tostudents and families, specifically in terms of the applicationprocess, decision process, and financial aid process. TheAdmissions Counselor will make decisions on the applications ofstudents when necessary and will be well-versed in the enrollmentprocess to better assist prospective students in theirapplication/financial aid review.

Additionally, this position will be responsible for providing dailyinformation sessions to campus visitors prior to taking a tour aswell as conducting interviews of prospective students. They mayalso be responsible for providing tours. The Admissions Counselorwill need to be customer service oriented with a strong desire towork with others. The Admissions Counselor should also be availableto work some weekend and evening events throughout a recruitmentcycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Monitor and respond to questions throughout various forms ofcommunication including telephone, email and social needs in atimely fashion. Provide prospective students application statusinformation, general Seton Hall information, application processinformation, program specific information. Meet with prospectivestudents, families and other visitors who arrive in the AdmissionsOffice on a daily basis. Provide answers to questions, solveissues, direct visitors to appropriate departments when necessary.Conduct interviews to a range of student populations includingprospective freshmen, transfer and wait listed students. Assess thestudent's interview and provide feedback that will aid in theselection process for potential admission to the University. Advisestudents on the application process and assess an applicant'sportfolio. Assist students and families with their financial aidpackage and suggest other outlets for financing a student'seducation.
  2. Present daily information sessions to a range of visitors(accepted students, prospective students, transfer students,guidance counselors, parents, etc.) and provide campus tours whenneeded. Compile reports and data as it pertains to visit programsand customer contact as well as assist with customer service needsand procedures. Assess the customer service efforts of theUndergraduate Admissions Office and implement new procedures for anenhanced and revised procedure in assisting campus visitors.
  3. Assist with application review and make decisions on incomingfreshman and transfer applications, when needed. Assist with textcomments. Support the background admissions operations such asprocessing applications, compiling data entry, mailings, etc.
  4. Assist with arranging classroom visits, event planning,scheduling, programming and any other logistical needs to supportthe admissions operation.
  • May be required to work Saturday information sessions as part ofthe weekend tour times as well as assist with Open Houses and otherevents which occur in the evening or weekends.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required with 1-2 years of experience in customerservice and/or student service required. Advanced degree maysubstitute for required work experience.
  • - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectivelywith a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • - Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of customers and offerappropriate solutions
  • - Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability topresent information effectively to groups
  • - Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in student database software preferred.
Salary Range:

$32,800 - $45,100
