Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned domestic recruitment territory, cultivating relationships with prospective students, guidance counselors, alumni, and community organizations.
  • Develop and execute a 4-8 week fall travel plan with 4-5 daily high school visits to promote Lehigh signatures.
  • Coordinate regional off-campus interviews and analyze travel data to optimize recruitment strategies.
  • Conduct holistic evaluations of first-year and transfer applications using rubrics to assess academic and non-academic variables.
  • Interpret diverse grading systems and curricula to assess academic rigor and student potential.
  • Maintain high reading and evaluation benchmarks during a 5-month review cycle.
  • Deliver public presentations and information sessions to campus visitors using multimedia tools.
  • Direct and participate in recruitment and yield events, including open houses and fly-in initiatives.
  • Conduct admissions interviews to assess fit and guide the admissions process.
  • Support departmental projects across marketing, international admissions, or volunteer management.

Lehigh University's Office of Admissions is looking for an Admissions Counselor who is ready to connect prospective students with an education that genuinely changes lives. This position is a Grade: 7 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $39,670 - $47,620 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.

Key Accountabilities
  • Manage an assigned domestic recruitment territory, actively cultivating relationships with prospective students, guidance counselors, local alumni, and community-based organizations.
  • Develop and execute an annual 4-8 week fall travel plan, conducting 4-5 daily visits to public and private high schools to promote institutional signatures.
  • Coordinate regional off-campus interviews, implement targeted follow-up communications, and analyze travel data to optimize regional recruitment strategies.
  • Conduct holistic evaluations of first-year and transfer applications using established rubrics to assess academic and non-academic variables against institutional goals.
  • Interpret diverse domestic and international grading systems, school profiles, and advanced curricula (AP, IB, transfer coursework) to assess academic rigor and student potential.
  • Maintain high reading efficiency during a dedicated 5-month review cycle, consistently meeting daily, weekly, and monthly evaluation benchmarks.
  • Deliver dynamic public presentations and information sessions to large and small groups of campus visitors utilizing multimedia tools.
  • Direct and participate in key recruitment and yield events, including open houses, admitted student programs, and fly-in initiatives.
  • Conduct individual admissions interviews with prospective students to assess fit and provide tailored guidance on the university admissions process.
  • Support specialized departmental projects across areas such as marketing/communications, technology, international admissions, or volunteer management.
