ABOUT JOHN JAY COLLEGE

John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice. Led by President Karol V. POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Travel to local and national graduate college fairs throughout the year.

  • Attends college meetings and serves on college committees to stay updated on issues relating to admissions.

  • Assists with special events for the college including Open Houses, Commencement, Admitted Student Events, etc.

  • Conducts on-campus information sessions and serves as admissions counselor for prospective students,

  • Participates in planning and execution of all on-campus recruitment events.

  • Serves as the liaison to Graduate Program Directors

  • Discusses academic programs with prospective students.

  • Maintains general knowledge of college activities, programs and requirements.

  • Represents the college by delivering presentations to groups of prospective students regarding the educational opportunities available at John Jay College.

  • Work weekends and evening when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Driver's License

Fluent in Spanish

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Coordinates efforts of admissions and/or enrollment offices.

  • Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students

  • Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; conducts follow up as needed

  • Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large

  • Assists with day-to-day administration and an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling and preparing and distributing materials

  • Represents the Admission Office to the college's internal and external communities as directed

  • Maintains and updates program databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$60,394

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
