Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and collect personal and medical information for admission.
  • Review admission requests for eligibility and appropriateness.
  • Document information in the system with completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate admissions with providers, insurers and other parties.
  • Verify insurance coverage and resolve related issues with patients.
  • Assist patients and families with questions about the admissions process.

Job Summary

Responsible for both welcoming patients and collecting their personal and medical information. Helps to determine whether the patient will be admitted. Review patients’ medical benefits and financial responsibility forms. May also arrange services for patients, such as transportation.

Essential Functions
  • Communicate with patients, families and healthcare providers to gather required information for admission.
  • Review and evaluate patient admission requests to ensure eligibility and appropriateness for admission.
  • Documents patients personal and medical information in the system ensuring all necessary information is completed and approved prior to admission.
  • Coordinate patient admissions with health care providers, insurance companies and other relevant parties.
  • Verify insurance coverage and work with patients and families to resolve any issues related to insurance.
  • Assist patients and families with any question or concerns related to the admissions process.
Qualifications

Education

Associate’s Degree Healthcare Administration preferred or Associate’s Degree Business Administration preferred or High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience

hospital admissions/healthcare admissions/Patient registration/Patient scheduling/Patient referrals experience 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Computer proficiency required.
