The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga is hiring a guest services associate to inform guests about hours, tickets, memberships, and events. You will assist with reservations, research bookings in ticketing systems, and maintain knowledge of all Aquarium offerings.

The role requires cash handling, strong customer engagement, and the ability to work lines during peak season. Applicants should have a high school diploma (some college preferred) and 2 years of sales or customer service experience.

• Serve as a primary information source for guests on hours, ticket prices, directions, memberships and events.
• Assist with new ticket reservations and existing bookings; look up memberships in ticketing systems.
• Maintain knowledge of Aquarium offerings and events; update as needed.
• Reconcile cash drawers while ensuring accuracy.
• Upsell add-ons while meeting department metrics and providing high-quality guest engagement.
• Handle long lines during peak season and collect guest contact details with each transaction.
• Comply with ADA regulations regarding service animals vetting procedures.

We are looking for a positive, energetic individual with excellent customer engagement skills, unique sales techniques, and experience to assist guests with information regarding the Aquarium, IMAX, ticketing, memberships, and any other special events, while supporting the Aquarium’s mission to connect people with nature and empower them to make informed decisions about water and wildlife.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a one-stop source for all guest questions concerning the Aquarium hours, ticket prices, directions, memberships, IMAX movies, parking, etc.
• Provide information and assist with new ticket reservations, and/or existing reservations.
• Ability to use ticketing programs to research guests’ bookings and look up membership details.
• Maintain an ongoing knowledge base of Aquarium offerings and events.
• Reconcile cash drawers.
• Upsell add-ons to guests while maintaining results within the department’s average metrics
• Must be able to work independently and provide a high standard of customer engagement.
• Work long lines of customers for several hours during peak season.
• Capture customer details such as first and last name, email, zip codes, etc. with each transaction.
• Fulfill other required workplace responsibilities within the organization as requested or assigned.
• Ensure compliance with ADA regulations regarding service animals vetting procedures.

Key Requirements

• High school diploma or some college preferred.
• 2 years’ sales/customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a cash drawer and handle money (basic math).
• Professional and enthusiastic interpersonal skills.
• Proactive and persuasive selling skills.
• Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn new software.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Handles multiple functions simultaneously.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environment as needed
