Job summary

Stone Crest Center in Detroit is seeking an Admissions Assistant Acute to support patient registration and admissions. You will apply customer service and data entry skills to ensure a smooth admissions process in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

The role involves greeting patients, handling paperwork, and coordinating with clinical staff to admit patients to the appropriate program, while maintaining accurate records and providing empathetic service to patients and families.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Social Services field a plus.
  • One or more years’ experience in healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and search new patients and those transporting patients upon arrival.
  • Handle clerical duties such as managing paperwork, data entry, insurance claim liaison, and answering phones.
  • Complete paperwork necessary to admit patients to the assigned program, explain forms prior to signing, notify the clinical lead, and escort patients and documentation to the appropriate location.
  • Ensure mandatory documentation is completed and distributed to notify staff of arrival/transfer.
  • Ensure all required patient information is received, processed, and appointments are scheduled with appropriate behavioral or medical personnel.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers.
  • Address patient complaints to ensure safety and satisfaction.
  • Maintain urgency related to patient safety and provide excellent customer service.

Schedule

9 am to 5:30 pm with Weekend Rotation. Rate starts at $18.50 per hour.

Essential Functions
  • Greet and search new patients and those transporting patients upon arrival.

  • Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision at required intervals.
  • Document accurate clinical information in medical records and registration systems.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients, significant others, and staff.
  • Interact with patients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to admissions staff.
  • Take vital signs, height, weight as assigned and document in the patient record.
  • Engage patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage treatment goal achievement.
  • Assist incoming patients/family members with contraband searches and itemizing belongings when needed.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation.
  • Assist with follow‑up and paperwork for incidents and events.
  • Provide or coordinate transportation for patients as appropriate.
  • Data entry.
Other Functions
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Education / Experience / Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Social Services field a plus.
  • One or more years’ experience in healthcare preferred.
Licenses / Designations / Certifications
  • CPR and de‑escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
