Admissions Application Reader (Part-Time)
Location: New York, NY (Washington Square/Midtown)
Pay Rate: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
Duration: 3 Months (Seasonal/Temporary)
Schedule: Part-Time 20 hours week (On-site)

Role Overview
We are seeking a discerning and detail-oriented Application Reader to support a prominent university admissions team during the peak review cycle. This role requires high-level professional judgment to evaluate incoming student applications. You will be responsible for assessing a high volume of diverse files, ensuring each candidate meets the rigorous academic and professional standards of the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Holistic Review: Conduct thorough evaluations of approximately 100 applications per week, utilizing established admissions criteria and specific departmental requirements.
- Candidacy Assessment: Review and interpret resumes, statements of purpose, and letters of recommendation to gauge an applicant's motivation, initiative, and leadership potential.
- Academic Evaluation: Analyze domestic and international transcripts to determine academic eligibility and GPA calculations.
- Qualitative Analysis: Assess the overall "fit" of a candidate based on qualitative data and mission alignment.
- Collaboration: Consult with the Admissions leadership team regarding complex files, edge-case applications, or those requiring special consideration.
- System Management: Maintain accurate records and status updates within the university’s admissions database.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Analytical Thinking: Exceptional ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of information quickly and accurately.
- Higher Ed Knowledge: Previous experience in university admissions, academic advising, or registrarial work is highly preferred.
- Time Management: Proven ability to meet strict weekly quotas and deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer and internet skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to proprietary university databases and evaluation software.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting evaluation findings.
Position Requirements
- Ability to work fully on-site for the duration of the 3-month contract.
