Job summary

Texas Health Cleburne is seeking an Admissions Specialist in Patient Access Services. You will gather financial and demographic information to ensure smooth medical records and billing processes, and you will verify benefits and pre-certification where needed.

You will collect co-pays, self-pay deposits, and patient balances, explain financial obligations, and obtain required consents. The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and compassionate service within a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 1 Year Customer Service Experience required.
• CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate Upon Hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gathers complete financial and demographic information to streamline billing and records.
• Obtains/updates verification of benefits and pre-certification for tests/procedures.
• Explains and secures necessary consents; maintains documentation.
• Maximizes reimbursement by identifying insurance carrier and benefits; prevents denials with timely notification.
• Assists patients in understanding financial obligations; collects co-pays, self-pay deposits, and patient balances.
• Adheres to regulations and policies; follows customer service and productivity guidelines.

Here is What You Need:

Education

• o H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience

• o 1 Year Customer Service Experience required

Licenses and Certifications

• o CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate Upon Hire preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Requires good written, oral, and telephone communication skills.
• Requires knowledge of general office equipment, PC's and associated software packages.
• Ability to type 35 WPM corrected for errors preferred.
• General knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

What You Will Do

• Duties to include, but not limited to:
• Accurately gathers complete financial and demographic information to ensure medical records/billing process flows efficiently.
• Obtains and/or updates verification of benefits and/or pre-certification for applicable tests and/or procedures
• Prepares, presents, and thoroughly explains applicable legal, ethical, and compliance documents; ensures proper consents are signed by the appropriate parties. Maintains documentation of the same
• Maximizes reimbursement for services rendered by appropriately identifying insurance carrier, benefits, etc. Prevents denials by ensuring timely notification of admission to insurance carriers
• Assists patients in understanding financial obligations; collects co-payments, self-pay deposits, and patient balances to reduce Accounts Receivable.
• Stays abreast of and complies with applicable regulations, entity and/or system policies and procedures. Maintains customer service and/or productivity guidelines set forth by applicable leadership.
