Job summary

The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art is seeking an Admission Counselor to support undergraduate admission across the Schools of Art, Architecture, and Engineering. This entry-level role assists with recruitment, application review, event coordination, and daily admission operations to help maintain a responsive and student-centered process.

The Admission Counselor represents The Cooper Union to prospective students, families, educators, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication required.
  • Experience with data management; Slate preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak periods.
  • Bachelor's Degree; experience in admission/higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent The Cooper Union at high school visits, college fairs, virtual programs, and community-based organization events across all three schools.
  • Support on-campus and virtual recruitment and yield initiatives.
  • Contribute to admission communications, including email campaigns, website updates, social media content, and print materials.
  • Coordinate the setup, processing, and secure return of Hometests and Studio Tests; facilitate faculty review processes.
  • Assist in the review of applications to ensure timely, thoughtful, and consistent evaluation aligned with institutional standards.
  • Support coordination and preparation of application materials for committee review.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing major admission programs, including Open House, Admitted Student Day, and counselor-focused events.
  • Provide logistical and on-site support for recruitment and yield events.
  • Provide support and coverage at the Hub Admission Desk, responding to inquiries from prospective students and families in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Provide administrative support related to recruitment travel and events, including reimbursement processing.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable admission process and creating a welcoming environment for all prospective students.

JOB SUMMARY

The Admission Counselor supports undergraduate admission across the Schools of Art, Architecture, and Engineering. This entry-level role assists with recruitment, application review, event coordination, and daily admission operations to help maintain a responsive and student-centered process.


The Admission Counselor represents The Cooper Union to prospective students, families, educators, and community partners. The role participates in on-campus and virtual recruitment and yield activities, reviews applications, and contributes to institutional enrollment goals.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION


  • Bachelor's Degree. Experience in Admission/Higher Ed.
