Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking an Administrative Support Coordinator for the SDSU School of Nursing at the Chula Vista satellite location. You will support operations, coordinate academic and administrative functions, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

The role is on campus, full-time, non-exempt, with a focus on supporting faculty, staff, and students and maintaining continuity of operations across the program.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years of experience in an administrative/office setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing multiple calendars and/or schedules.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience working in large, public-sector organizations such as a higher education, public agency, government, military or health care setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FERPA requirements and possess the ability to maintain confidentiality related to student data.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative & Operational Support: Manages day‑to‑day office operations; coordinates administrative workflows; liaison to Global Campus and SON leadership; direct support to the Assistant Director and Director in advancing program operations and initiatives.
  • Budget & Fiscal Management: Oversees and tracks funding sources; processes purchasing, travel, and accounts payable; ensures compliance with CSU fiscal policies.
  • Academic & Student Support Coordination: Assists with records management, compliance tracking systems, and clinical coordination processes; helps resolve student concerns.
  • Personnel & Faculty Support: Coordinates faculty appointments, workload reporting, and personnel processes; assists leadership in documentation and compliance.
  • Accreditation & Reporting: Collects and prepares data for reports and supports compliance with BRN and CCNE accreditation standards.
  • Program & Event Coordination: Supports School of Nursing events, meetings, and communications; coordinates logistics and maintains documentation across stakeholders.

Position Summary

The School of Nursing at San Diego State University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Support Coordinator to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the launch and ongoing operations of the new nursing program at the SDSU-Chula Vista satellite location. Serve as a central resource for faculty, staff, and students and ensure continuity of operations, coordination of academic and administrative functions, and adherence to accreditation and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative & Operational Support: Manages day‑to‑day office operations; coordinates administrative workflows; serves as liaison to Global Campus and SON leadership; and provides direct support to the Assistant Director and Director in advancing program operations and initiatives.

Position Information
  • This is a full‑time (1.0 time‑base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • This position is designated non‑exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at the SDSU School of Nursing satellite facility in Chula Vista.
Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Compensation

Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity guidelines.

  • Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367) for highly qualified candidates.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,367 – $6,362 per month (Step 1 – Step 20).
  • Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
  • Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
