Job summary

The Department of Social Services - Children’s Division seeks an Administrative Support Assistant in Jefferson City, based at the Knipp building. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate meetings and training logistics, including scheduling, calendars, and virtual meeting setup.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, take notes, and distribute summaries or minutes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the training unit and direct routine inquiries.
  • Maintain electronic records and filing systems per agency guidelines.
  • Enter, update, and retrieve information in agency systems and tracking tools.
  • Use Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint for routine admin tasks.
  • Maintain basic spreadsheets or logs to support reporting and coordination.
  • Assist with office and training-related tasks, including supply ordering.
  • Learn new systems, software, and procedures to support unit operations.

Job description

Job Location: This position will be based at the Knipp building in Jefferson City.


Individual(s) selected for this position may receive a higher rate based on a pay differential (e.g., shift, or time-of-service pay).


The Department of Social Services partners with families and communities to protect children, rehabilitate youth and move families to self-sufficiency so that Missourians can lead safe, healthy and productive lives.


Children's Division is looking for candidates to fill the position of Administrative Support Assistant.


This position provides administrative and clerical support to the training unit. The Administrative Office Support Assistant supports day-to-day operations by scheduling, managing records, tracking basic data, and providing customer service. The role requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and work within multiple systems and processes.

  • Maintain electronic records and filing systems in accordance with agency guidelines

  • Enter, update, and retrieve information in agency systems and tracking tools

  • Use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint for routine administrative and tracking tasks

  • Maintain basic spreadsheets or logs to support reporting and coordination

  • Assist with office and training-related support tasks, including supply ordering and expense documentation

  • Learn new systems, software, and procedures as needed to support unit operations


One or more years of experience in office support work; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.


(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)


Preferred Qualifications


  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong computer skills and comfort working in multiple systems

  • Ability to learn new software and processes

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of Missouri Office applications

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems

  • Experience with survey tools such as Qualtrics
