Position Overview: This role supports the Planning and Environmental Services Department by performing administrative tasks such as answering inquiries, assisting citizens, and preparing meeting materials. The ideal candidate is highly organized, capable of multitasking, adaptable, and possesses strong communication skills to meet deadlines.

Compensation: Starts at $23.30/hour (DOQ) with potential up to $30.46/hour (2024 wages).

Characteristics of Class

Under supervision, performs a variety of administrative duties to support departmental functions, including clerical work of moderate complexity, training staff, and managing administrative processes.

Examples of Duties
  • Manage administrative functions; train and supervise clerical staff.
  • Prepare minutes, agendas, correspondence, and reports.
  • Handle public inquiries, process payments, and oversee financial reports.
  • Work with real estate transaction data and reports.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain calendars.
  • Serve as receptionist and interpret policies for the public and staff.
  • Maintain files, records, and statistics; operate office equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High school diploma plus one year of post-secondary education and three years of related experience, or four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, Microsoft Office, records management, and forms control.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Typing speed of 60 WPM; ability to transcribe dictation.
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships and perform complex arithmetic.
