Join us at the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles as an Administrative Specialist II / Titling & Licensing Specialist III and help provide excellent customer service in Irmo, SC.
Job Responsibilities
- Examine, accept, prepare, enter, and print documents for issuing driver’s licenses, permits, ID cards, vehicle registrations, license plates, handicap placards, golf cart permits, and titles, including special vehicle requests.
- Manage needs of business customers such as banks, lienholders, insurance companies, and dealerships.
- Process vehicle registration requests, research suspensions, modify credentials, and issue dealer licenses.
- Determine service eligibility based on SC legislation and DMV policies.
- Administer knowledge tests for various classes of driver licenses.
- Verify visual eye screenings, review applications for fraud or medical issues, and process motor voter applications.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding driver, vehicle, registration, titling, and insurance requirements.
- Operate systems and equipment such as cameras, fax, and DMV software to assist customers.
- Collect fees, reconcile reports, compute taxes, and manage license plates and surrender procedures.
- Maintain transaction records and perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Handle payments via cash, credit card, check, or money order, and keep documentation compliant with policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including specialized transactions like IRP/IFTA and LiveScan.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience may substitute.
- Must pass background check and, if applicable, CDL certification requirements.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to learn DMV policies and procedures and explain them to customers.
- Proficiency with the Phoenix System and related hardware.
- Ability to work under pressure during peak periods.
- Regular supervision and work in a climate-controlled office environment.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and talking required.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma plus clerical experience.
