Administrative Specialist II / Titling & Licensing Specialist I - 176409

Join us at the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles as an Administrative Specialist II / Titling & Licensing Specialist I.

Position Overview

Located in the Dillon DMV Branch Office, this role involves customer service, processing vehicle documentation, administering tests, and managing transactions related to driver and vehicle licensing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine, accept, prepare, and process documents for driver licenses, permits, IDs, vehicle registrations, license plates, and titles, including special cases like salvage or rebuilt vehicles.
  • Manage needs of business customers such as banks and dealerships, including licensing and insurance verification.
  • Process registration requests, investigate suspensions, and issue dealership licenses.
  • Administer knowledge tests for various license classes and verify visual and medical requirements.
  • Assist customers with inquiries related to driver and vehicle requirements, and operate necessary equipment to issue credentials.
  • Handle payments, maintain records, and perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including specialized transactions and compliance tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or education may be substituted with prior approval.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to learn DMV policies and procedures and explain them to customers.
  • Successful completion of training and proficiency with the Phoenix System and related hardware.
  • Ability to work under pressure during peak times.
  • Regular supervision with defined tasks and processes.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and talk for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus clerical experience.
