This position is located in the Dillon DMV Branch Office in Dillon, SC.
Responsibilities of the Titling & Licensing Specialist I- Examine, accept, prepare, enter, and print all documents required in issuing drivers' licenses, permits, and IDs for all classes; including original, duplicate, transfers, temporary, and replacement vehicle registrations, license plates, handicap placards, golf cart permits, and titles. Handle requests for repossessed, abandoned, salvaged, homemade, and rebuilt vehicles. Create and edit customer name and address fields.
- Manage business customer needs such as licensing, insurance issues, and verifying customer numbers for banks, lienholders, insurance companies, and dealerships.
- Process motor vehicle registration requests, research suspension inquiries, modify registration credentials, and issue dealership licenses.
- Determine service eligibility based on established guidelines from SC legislation and DMV policies.
- Administer knowledge tests to drivers requesting various classes of licenses, including CDL licenses.
- Verify visual eye screenings via physicians' statements or eye test machines, review applications for fraud and medical cases to determine license restrictions, and process motor voter applications.
- Answer customer inquiries related to driver, vehicle, registration, titling, and insurance requirements. Greet and direct customers appropriately.
- Operate necessary equipment such as camera systems, fax machines, and DMV software to assist customers.
- Collect fees and donations, reconcile daily reports, compute vehicle sales taxes, and handle license plates surrender and pickup requests. Perform routine equipment maintenance and keep the work area organized.
- Manage transaction payments and maintain records of issued and destroyed documentation according to DMV policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to IRP/IFTA, LiveScan, and international customer transactions.
The position may require relocation within 30 miles if necessary for business needs.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; related clerical experience may be substituted with prior approval.
Agency RequirementsCriminal background check including fingerprints; completion of CDL test examiner training and examination.
Additional RequirementsAbility to retain DMV policies, explain procedures, work under pressure, and learn DMV systems. Must attend training and work in a climate-controlled office, with periods of sitting, standing, walking, and talking. Limited overtime may be required.
Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent plus clerical experience.
