The Administrative Specialist provides administrative support to the Director of Standards Management on matters related to program services for residents at O’Berry NMT Center. This role handles projects and correspondence involving sensitive and confidential issues such as policy development, budget concerns, hiring, personnel issues, grievances, and strategic planning. The position requires compiling reports, records, and data from evaluations, surveys, and investigations. It also involves advising staff and management on program processes, services, and operations for standard and non-standard situations. Flexibility and adaptability are essential to respond to changes and new office procedures.

O’Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is a specialized skilled nursing facility dedicated to maintaining quality of life and dignity for adults with neurocognitive disorders and complex medical and behavioral needs, who require support beyond what can be provided by family or community living settings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of program procedures, methods, and practices.
  • Excellent command of grammar, vocabulary, spelling, proofreading, and program terminology for effective communication.
  • Ability to record, compile, summarize, and analyze narrative and numerical data.
  • Skill in planning and coordinating appointments, meetings, and conferences.
  • Ability to organize and review administrative and program workflows and procedures.
  • Capability to learn, interpret, and analyze program content and make decisions.
  • Ability to understand and explain policies, regulations, and programs.
  • Judgment and discretion in problem-solving.
  • Ability to answer inquiries independently and coordinate resources.
  • May involve coordinating work of staff, students, or volunteers.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or GED plus four years of related administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. See oshr.nc.gov/experience-guide for details.
