Job Description

The Administrative Specialist I (Medical Records Assistant) is located at Brown Creek Correctional in Polkton, NC. Brown Creek is a medium custody facility housing approximately 916 male offenders.

The Medical Records Assistant position requires general knowledge of medical office practices and procedures to review, verify, complete, record, and/or balance records, reports, and figures. The Medical Records Assistant reports to the Nurse Supervisor. This position is responsible for maintaining medical records in a confidential manner and performing duties according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory of medical supplies.
  • Scheduling medical appointments for offenders.
  • Demonstrating good judgment when communicating with staff, offenders, and the public.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.

Qualifications

Minimum education and experience requirements include:

  • High school diploma or GED and two years of related administrative experience, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants must document experience performing administrative functions in an office setting and experience in organization, retention, review, and filing of records.
