Job Description

The Administrative Specialist I (Medical Records Assistant) is located at Brown Creek Correctional in Polkton, NC. Brown Creek is a medium custody facility housing approximately 916 male offenders.

The Medical Records Assistant position requires general knowledge of medical office practices and procedures to review, verify, complete, record, and/or balance records, reports, and figures. The Medical Records Assistant reports to the Nurse Supervisor. This position is responsible for maintaining medical records in a confidential manner and performing duties according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory of medical supplies.
  • Scheduling medical appointments for offenders.
  • Demonstrating good judgment when communicating with staff, offenders, and the public.
Position Details

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must document experience performing administrative functions in an office setting and experience in organization, retention, review, and filing of records. Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or GED and two years of related administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
