The Abuse/Neglect Hotline is a vital part of protecting Nebraska’s children and vulnerable adults. We’re seeking a highly organized and motivated Administrative Specialist to help manage day-to-day operations, provide guidance to team members, and support critical decisions and compliance work that helps keep people safe.

What You’ll Do
As an Administrative Specialist, you will:
- Provide supervision, training, and guidance to Hotline support staff
- Help ensure team members follow policies and state/federal requirements
- Review and process background checks and findings related to abuse/neglect reports
- Oversee entries to the Central Registry and support law enforcement report tracking
- Act as the Security Administrator for the Hotline, making access decisions as needed
- Manage office operations, monitor workloads, and assign tasks to support team performance
- Coordinate purchases and track the Hotline’s financial and equipment needs
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners like law enforcement and legal entities
- Support Hotline program evaluation through data review and analysis
- Fill in for Hotline Office Specialists when needed for team coverage
What We’re Looking For
- Has experience leading or supporting teams in a fast-paced environment
- Understands or is willing to learn state and federal laws related to child and adult protective services
- Is comfortable making decisions independently while staying compliant with regulations
- Is highly organized and detail-focused
- Communicates clearly and professionally in both written and verbal forms
- Has experience managing office operations, purchasing, or data analysis
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of post-high school coursework or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Child welfare or a related human services field
- Administration or office management
- Program planning or evaluation
- Policy analysis and implementation
- Administrative or management analysis
- Operations research
- Work related to the programs and functions within Child and Family Services
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to child welfare and administrative functions
- Familiarity with office management and effective recordkeeping practices
- Experience in preparing and organizing administrative reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Understanding of research methods and administrative survey techniques
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workloads for self and others
- Skilled in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information from multiple sources
- Ability to draw informed conclusions and make recommendations based on data
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with supervisors, team members, and leadership across all levels of DHHS
