Job description

The position is located in the Office of the General Counsel, Executive Office for Immigration Review, U.S. Dept. of Justice. This position directs administrative operations for the OGC and advises senior leadership on budget, human resources, organizational management, and administrative services. It also coordinates resources and leads administrative staff. This is a Competitive Service position; additional positions may be filled from this announcement within 90 days of certificate issuance.

In order to qualify for the Administrative Officer position, you must meet the following time in grade requirements and minimum qualifications:

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS:

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. If your eligibility for both merit promotion and/or time-in-grade cannot be determined, your application will be rated ineligible. Please see Required Documents for additional information).

FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL:
Specialized Experience:

Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks, full-time) of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (or comparable experience outside the Federal service), performing 4 or more of the following duties:

  1. Analyzing complex administrative program issues, interpreting federal policies and regulations, and recommending improvements to management;
  2. Managing budget and financial activities by developing spending plans, monitoring expenditures, analyzing funding requirements, and recommending resource allocations;
  3. Advising management on federal human resources matters involving staffing, performance management, pay, leave, awards, training, or workforce utilization; and
  4. Coordinating administrative services across organizational units to resolve operational issues and ensure support functions meet program and mission requirements.
