Job summary

Rust Medical Center, part of Presbyterian Healthcare Services, seeks an Administrative Nursing Supervisor to provide on-site leadership for clinical and operational functions across shifts. This role ensures safe, high-quality patient care while supporting nurses, physicians, patients, and families.

The supervisor coordinates patient flow, staffing, and escalation of issues; serves as a clinical resource, partners with department leaders, and drives operational efficiency in a dynamic acute care

Qualifications

  • Associates of Nursing degree from an accredited school.
  • NM licensed RN or multistate compact RN.
  • 5 years of relevant acute care or leadership nursing experience.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clinical oversight for hospital operations during assigned shifts.
  • Act as nursing leader and administrative representative in absence of senior leadership.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and optimize throughput and capacity.
  • Monitor staffing and patient acuity for safe care delivery.
  • Coach and mentor nursing staff; support conflict resolution and clinical consults.
  • Respond to emergent situations and operational challenges.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Summary

Rust Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Administrative Nursing Supervisor to provide clinical and operational leadership during assigned shifts. This role serves as the on-site nursing administrative representative, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while supporting nursing staff, physicians, patients, and families across the hospital.

The Administrative Nursing Supervisor is responsible for coordinating patient flow, staffing resources, problem-solving operational issues, facilitating communication among departments, and serving as a clinical resource and leader. This position plays a critical role in maintaining excellence in patient care, caregiver engagement, and operational efficiency.

The Administrative Nursing Supervisor facilitates timely and safe patient flow and provides management and operational oversight of the acute care hospital setting, and ensures the provision of safe, quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and clinical oversight for hospital operations during assigned shifts.
  • Serve as the nursing leader and administrative representative in the absence of senior leadership.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and collaborate with department leaders to optimize patient throughput and capacity management.
  • Monitor staffing levels and patient acuity to ensure appropriate resource allocation and safe patient care delivery.
  • Support nursing staff through coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and clinical consultation.
  • Respond to and manage emergent situations, patient concerns, and operational challenges.
  • Facilitate effective communication among nursing units, ancillary departments, physicians, and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with incident investigation, documentation, and follow-up as needed.
  • Promote a culture of patient-centered care, accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associates of Nursing degree from an accredited school
  • License: NM licensed RN required or Out-of-state Multistate compact RN
  • Experience: 5 years of relevant experience (acute care-tele or above) and/or leadership nursing experience.
  • BLS required
