Job summary

The State of New Hampshire, Legal & Regulatory, seeks a Hearings Examiner to preside over administrative hearings and manage related proceedings. Candidates must be an active NH Bar member with a law degree and significant administrative-law experience, including potential travel across the state.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8.5 years of experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience after high school.
• Attorney with two years of experience in administrative law or related regulatory work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Presides over administrative hearings for the Department and conducts prehearing conferences.
• Drafts prehearing orders, proposed decisions and final decisions; administers oaths and accepts evidence.
• Advises administration on policy, rules, and regulations related to hearings and program issues.
• Reviews laws, regulations, and case law to determine findings of fact and conclusions of law.
• Travel throughout the State to conduct hearings and fulfill duties.
