Job summary

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS

Under general direction of a departmental supervisor, assists in the administration and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and programs. Incumbent performs research on departmental issues, disseminates information, develops and prepares documents and reports, and performs related professional and administrative duties. This classification is intended to provide the incumbent with broad exposure to organizational operations; thus, specific duties will vary between departments. The employee receives assignments from the supervisor, who defines objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and assists the employee with unusual situations that do not have clear precedents.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs research on departmental concerns; gathers and analyzes data; prepares and updates reports and correspondence; assists in the preparation and submission of grant applications, requests for proposals, and related materials.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures; interprets departmental rules and regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Current enrollment in a post-secondary program OR graduation with a Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration or closely related field; supplemented by one (1) year of experience in providing research and analysis assistance; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
