Under general supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of technical and administrative duties related to the Districts Emergency Medical Services (EMS) electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) system. Responsibilities include maintaining the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of EMS data; reviewing completed electronic patient care reports for accuracy and compliance; identifying and resolving data discrepancies; and ensuring reports are properly processed and prepared for timely export to the Districts billing system. The position serves as an important administrative support function within the EMS system and works closely with EMS personnel and other District staff

  1. Maintain data within the electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) system to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
  2. Review completed ePCRs for accuracy and completeness, identify errors or omissions, and ensure reports are properly processed and ready for export to the billing system.
  3. Conduct quality improvement reviews of ePCRs and communicate with EMS crews to obtain corrections and resolve errors, omissions, and other deficiencies.
  4. Identify quality improvement issues and refer them to the CQI Manager for review, follow-up, and appropriate action.
  5. Extract, import, and export data using various database applications and EMS-related information systems.
  6. Monitor and review ePCR system data regularly to identify discrepancies and ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
  7. Maintain and update employee profiles and related information in ImageTrend, SCEMSA, and other applicable EMS databases and systems.
  8. Monitor, track, and coordinate the timely renewal and upgrading of licenses and certifications for District line personnel, and maintain accurate records of required credentials.
  9. Receive, review, and process patient complaints, disputes, grievances, and financial hardship requests submitted through various channels, including in person, email, and online portals.
  10. Receive, review, and process miscellaneous employee expense reimbursement requests in accordance with District procedures.
  11. Communicate with EMS personnel, supervisors, and other District staff to obtain information, resolve discrepancies, and provide administrative support related to EMS systems and processes.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and a physical to include a drug screen.

The education or experience requirements may be modified or waived at the sole discretion of the Fire Chief. At least one of the education or experience requirements must be met; both requirements cannot be modified or waived. The Sacramento Metro Fire District Board of Directors shall be notified of any such modifications or waivers.

Age

Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

Education and Experience

Education must be obtained through a post secondary institution currently accredited by any accreditation body recognized by either the Counsel for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the United States Department of Education.

Required:

  1. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
  2. Minimum of twelve (12) units of college credit.
  3. Two (2) years of experience in an administrative, office, EMS systems, or similar position in the public or private sector that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the position.

Desirable:

  1. Associates Degree
  2. Bachelors Degree
  3. Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer
  4. Certified Ambulance Privacy Officer
