The Administrative Coordinator will provide high-leveladministrative support to multiple highly active senior faculty inthe Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate for thisposition will perform varied administrative and clerical duties tosupport Chemistry faculty (i.e, compose correspondence, assist withpreparation of course materials and technical journal articles, andmaintenance of research group files). The AdministrativeCoordinator will assist in the general recordkeeping of graduatestudent and post-doctoral researcher appointments and researcheffort tracking as needed. Successful candidate will maintaincalendars, plan and organize travel arrangements and appointments,assist in preparation of research grant proposals; submit travelreimbursements, and process requisitions. Additionalresponsibilities for this position will include administrativesupport for departmental leadership and other key stakeholders,composition of appointment letters, and assist with programming andevent planning, purchasing, and advertising.
The Chemistry Department at the University of Pennsylvania wasfounded in 1874, and since then has grown to be an internationallyrenowned center of molecular research. The Department has beenassociated with seven Nobel Laureates, and at least eighteenmembers of the National Academy of Sciences. Within the department,the traditional sub-fields of biochemistry, organic, inorganic, andphysical chemistry serve as a framework from which collaborative,interdisciplinary research is launched. It currently numbers 31full-time faculty and 6 adjunct or associated faculty, all of whomare active researchers. It has a graduate student and postdoctoralpopulation of more than 200, each of whom is engaged in research,and is responsible for two undergraduate majors - Chemistry andBiochemistry.

A High School Degree and 5-7 years of experience, or equivalentcombination of education and experience, is required. Bachelor'sdegree is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skillsas well as excellent organizational skills are required. Theability to manage multiple tasks and meet demanding deadlines isrequired. Strong initiative and ability to work independently aswell as with a team are essential. Computer proficiencyessential.
