Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to provide high-level administrative and project support to the Department Chair and leadership team. The role requires an on-site hybrid presence in Cambridge, MA, with up to four days on campus per week and coordination of department-wide activities.
Responsibilities include office administration, event planning, onboarding, and inter-department communications.
The Administrative Coordinator (AC) provides general administrative and operational support to the academic unit, and may assist or lead departmental projects and initiatives under the guidance of the Director or Executive Director. The AC also provides administrative and project support to the Chair. Strong in-person presence required.
The Administrative Coordinator supports the Department Chair and DA/ED in implementing the strategic priorities of the department. Independently responsible for administrative coordination of an administrative grouping, anticipating and resolving problems independently. Has primary responsibility for office management, departmental projects, events, programs or conferences. Under the guidance of the DA/ED, may independently lead projects and programs for the grouping.
May be expected to work on campus up to 4 days per week.
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. This position will be based in Cambridge, MA and there is an expectation of four (4) workdays per week on campus. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University's Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
