Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Health seeks a front-line Eligibility Support Specialist in Rapides Parish. This role assists applicants and enrollees with walk-in inquiries, provides customer service on benefits and eligibility, supports outreach events, and ensures timely processing of important information.

Ideal candidates will follow policies, manage resources effectively, and meet three years of administrative experience. Experience substitution: 15 semester hours equals six months.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in administrative services.
  • EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.
  • Accepting Direction: openness to guidance or instructions.
  • Demonstrating Accountability: ownership of actions and outcomes.
  • Following Policies and Procedures: adherence to policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Managing Resources: ability to manage financial, physical, and contractual resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist applicants and enrollees with walk-in inquiries and provide professional customer service regarding eligibility services.
  • Answer and manage incoming office telephone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff.
  • Receive, review, sort, image, and route incoming documentation to Eligibility Analysts for timely processing.
  • Process demographic updates and other routine case actions to support timely eligibility determinations.
  • Maintain and organize electronic and physical files and records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare and process outgoing correspondence and mail to applicants, enrollees, and other appropriate parties.
  • Provide administrative support to Eligibility Field Operations staff and perform other duties as necessary to promote efficient and timely access to Medicaid services.
