  • Bachelor's degree and four years of full-time experience investigating and settling liability claims, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising staff performing investigation and settlement of liability claims or related work.
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above; however, all candidates must have 18 months of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity as described above.

  • Supervises staff, establishes performance expectations, conducts evaluations, approves timesheets and leave, manages attendance, provides coaching and discipline when appropriate.
  • Directs daily operations, establishes priorities, assigns work, monitors deadlines, ensures effective utilization of personnel and resources.

Job description

Provides administrative direction and broad managerial oversight, exercising substantial independence, initiative, and judgment in carrying out unit support professional responsibilities. Establishes goals and objectives for support professional personnel, delegates as appropriate, and remains accountable for the quality, timeliness, compliance, and effectiveness of the support professional personnel unit’s work.

Duties

The position is accountable for the overall administration and performance of the assigned unit’s support professional staff. The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises staff, establishes performance expectations, conducts evaluations, approves timesheets and leave, manages attendance, provides coaching and discipline when appropriate, and ensures adequate staffing.
  • Provides formal onboarding and training to all new employees and continuing education to existing staff.
  • Develops, implements, updates, communicates, and enforces divisional policies, procedures, standards, and protocols.
  • Directs daily operations, establishes priorities, assigns work, monitors deadlines, ensures effective utilization of personnel and resources, and compliance with internal and external deadlines.
  • Establishes quality-control measures, including maintenance of accurate metrics, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings and maintains consistent communication among employees, division management, executive leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitors individual performance, identifies deficiencies, implements corrective measures, and promotes continuous improvement.
  • Evaluates operational needs, anticipates staffing and workload demands, develops solutions, and recommends organizational solutions and improvements to senior management.

In addition, Tort prefers five years of experience in the above duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time experience investigating and settling liability claims, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising a staff performing the investigation and settlement of liability claims or related work;
