Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking an Administrative Associate for Orthopaedics Sports Medicine in State College, PA.

This full-time role involves coordinating athletic claims, coding and billing, and providing administrative support to leadership within the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine practice. Minimum qualifications include an Associate's Degree and several years in medical coding and insurance processing, with strong MS Word/Excel and database skills.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for serving as a lead resource for the coordination and oversight of the athletic claims including coding and billing for the Penn State University Athletic Department under the Intercollegiate Athletics agreement with Penn State University. The position also provides administrative support to the Director of Athletic Medicine and Medical Director for the Penn State Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine practice in State College.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree in business, healthcare, or a related field required.
• 3 years medical coding experience and 1 year insurance processing experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications including Word and Excel required.
• Working knowledge of FileMaker Pro database required.
• Working knowledge of web-based applications including encoder software package, insurance carrier websites IE., Medicare, Medical Assistance, Navinet-Blue Shield/Blue Cross products required.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, organizational and multitasking skills required.
• Possess self motivation and accountablility required.
• Possess working knowledge in CPT4, ICD9, and Medical Terminology required.
• Possess understanding of insurance claims submission process required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of PSU athletic injury carrier web portal preferred.
• Knowledge of HMC applications-Powerchart, Eclipsys, Cadence, and Groupwise preferred.
• Working knowledge of PSU applications ¿ IBIS preferred
