Job description

The Executive Office of The Public Interest Network seeks an Administrative Assistant. We are looking for a smart, committed, and detail-oriented candidate to join our team to assist the President and Vice Presidents in managing the daily operations of the organization and in long-term planning.

The Public Interest Network operates more than a dozen organizations committed to a shared vision of a better world, a set of core values, and a strategic approach to social change. These groups include U.S. PIRG, Environment America, Green Corps, and the National Environmental Law Center and encompass 400-plus staff. We tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our country today, such as delivering clean air, clean water and a livable climate to the next generation; transforming our energy and transportation systems for the 21st century; growing food in ways that leave both people and the planet healthier; and responding to the worst public health crisis in a century.

In order to achieve these results, the groups in The Public Interest Network need a strong backup staff to provide the resources, guidance, and infrastructure it takes to make progress on these issues.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant will work within the President’s Office and provide operations support to groups nationwide. Representative responsibilities include:

  1. Staff Support: Ensure that the President, Vice Presidents, and other senior staff have the resources they need to meet deadlines and goals. You will coordinate projects and schedules, create and maintain systems for tracking work, and maintain organizational files and records.
  2. Communications: Coordinate internal communication between staff including internal email updates, conference calls, and meetings.
  3. Event Logistics: The Public Interest Network hosts a range of events (currently remote) each year including staff retreats, campaign activities, trainings, and Board meetings. The Administrative Assistant is at the forefront of planning and organizing these events.
Qualifications

Applicants must be goal-driven and sharp, with a track record of exercising independent judgment and discretion to solve problems. Top candidates will be driven by the idea of building a non-profit organization, have an outstanding work ethic, and the maturity to manage confidential and/or sensitive information and oversee significant projects. Candidates must be able to make a two-year commitment to the position.

Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has. The Public Interest Network offers a competitive benefits package. We also offer an excellent training program and opportunities for advancement.

Location

Denver, CO. For the foreseeable future, all of our staff are working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
