Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant for the Office of the Provost plays a vital role in supporting academic operations and faculty processes. Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Provost and the Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Learning, this co-supervised position provides administrative and organizational support to ensure the efficient functioning of the Office of the Provost.
Key responsibilities include assisting the Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Learning with faculty-related initiatives, coordinating administrative tasks, and facilitating communication across academic departments. The Administrative Assistant frequently interacts with students, faculty, and staff, as well as various Academic Affairs offices, College departments, and external partners, fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Education/Experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Administrative Expertise – Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities with the capacity to manage confidential and time-sensitive information effectively.
Technology Proficiency – Skilled in Morehouse College’s technology platforms, including Banner, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams). Ability to navigate and utilize institutional systems for faculty processes, scheduling, and communication.
Communication & Collaboration – Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff, students, executives, and external partners while maintaining discretion and tact.
Event & Meeting Coordination – Experience in scheduling, organizing, and facilitating meetings, orientations, and workshops, including the use of virtual conferencing tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Problem-Solving & Initiative – Ability to anticipate challenges, proactively address concerns, and collaborate across departments to support academic operations.
Financial & Budget Oversight – Familiarity with budget tracking and expenditure monitoring, ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
Commitment to Academic Excellence – Understanding of faculty lifecycle processes, academic governance, and institutional policies, contributing to a supportive academic environment.
Physical Demands
Support Academic Innovation and Learning Initiatives
Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Learning, facilitating faculty assessment processes and academic initiatives. Responsibilities include:
Proactively Address Office of the Provost Issues
Identify and resolve potential challenges within the Office of the Provost before they arise. Work collaboratively across departments to ensure key individuals and offices are engaged in necessary decision-making and discussions.
Other Duties
Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Executive Assistant to the Provost, the Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Learning, or the Provost.
