Description

The Department of Ophthalmology's Retina Division is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support daily clinic operations and deliver excellent patient service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Answer telephones and evaluate calls for appropriate routing, take accurate messages
  • Perform patient check-in/out
  • Collect co-pays and process patient payments
  • Prepare external and interdepartmental billing documents
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Request and verify authorizations are in place prior to services being rendered
  • Track status of patients' test or imaging
Salary Range: $25.60-36.33 Hourly
Qualifications

Required:


  • One year of experience working in medical office/teaching hospital scheduling appointments and performing patient billing.
  • Experience in ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with current patient billing practices including private and governmental plans.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, which promote pleasant and effective communications with patients, staff and doctors.
  • Flexible personality and the ability to adapt to changing needs of department.
  • The ability to interact calmly and effectively with patients with difficult personalities.







Preferred:


  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • The ability to perform hands-on care preparing patients for angiographic studies and visual fields.
