Job summary

Seaford School District is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support district administration by performing clerical tasks and managing front-office operations. The role involves greeting visitors, handling mail, managing office equipment, and assisting staff with phones and email systems.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as receptionist for office and visitors, answering public inquiries politely.
  • Distributes mail and packages; maintains mailroom and main office areas.
  • Greets visitors, issues passes and badges when appropriate; maintains office machines.
  • Monitors supplies for devices and maintains service records; keeps form banks stocked.
  • Assists staff with knowledge of district phone/email and troubleshooting; prints/distributes report cards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Description: The Administrative Assistant is responsible to assist administration in maintaining the efficient and professional operation of the office and performing a variety of clerical tasks under the direction and supervision of building or district administration of the Seaford School District.

Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma with documented business and/or secretarial course work beyond high school level; college degree preferred
  • Proficiency in clerical skills including typing and record keeping
  • Knowledge of and experience with technology; Microsoft programs preferred
  • Ability to communicate and relate to the public in a professional, courteous and efficient manner including proper telephone etiquette skills
  • Established record of good attendance and performance
  • Previous school-level experience preferred
  • Develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
  • Work confidentially
  • Complete work amid constant interruptions
  • Comply with schedules and meet deadlines
Performance Responsibilities
  • Acts as the receptionist to the office and school visitors and answers a variety of questions for the public in a courteous manner
  • Distributes mail and packages upon arrival
  • Maintains orderly mailroom and main office areas
  • Greets visitors and issues passes/id badges when appropriate
  • Maintains office machines (copier, fax, printer, etc.) monitors and orders supplies for these devices and maintains service records
  • Keeps form bank stocked and clearly labeled

  • Is knowledgeable of the district's phone and email to be able to assist staff members and troubleshoot issues

Note: All temporary positions will end on June 30th.
NUMBER OF MONTHS/DAYS: 12 Month 261 Days
Note: Months/days will be pro-rated to start date.
FULL TIME OR PART TIME: Full Time

PENSION ELIGIBLE POSITION: Yes
NOTE: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for all employees of the Seaford School District.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

All new state employees will be required to participate in the State of Delaware's Direct Deposit system. With direct deposit, wage and salary payments are deposited in the employee's bank account via electronic funds transfer.
