Job summary

Corpus Christi Independent School District seeks an Administrative Assistant I to Counselors to support the Campus Counseling Department. Under counselor supervision, you will perform clerical tasks, manage student folders, and assist in registration and TREX filing processes.

You will also handle communications with parents and staff, maintain confidentiality, and ensure timely completion of tasks within a 200-day calendar, while operating standard office equipment and software.

Function

Under the supervision of the Counselors, the Administrative Assistant I to Counselors assists with various administrative tasks and performs the necessary clerical duties associated with efficiently operating the Campus Counseling Department.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining accurate records in student cumulative folders
  • Keeps each folder up to date with new information, as it becomes available
  • Assists teachers and other authorized personnel in the use of cumulative folders
  • Assists in registration of new students and ensures TREX records for new students are filed correctly in the student's cumulative folder
  • Assist in the promotion of positive community relations through effective email and phone communications with parents, teachers, administrators, and other district personnel.
  • Always maintain confidentiality of information
  • Meet all timelines as determined by the district
  • Performs general clerical duties utilizing computer, printer, and other office devices.
  • Answer telephone calls, relay messages, answer questions according to approved procedures
  • Compiles information for records, reports, and analyses
  • Runs and generates reports, assists in gathering and organizing data and organize teacher and parent input information, and performs other clerical duties associated with the special education referral process
  • Sets up appointments with parents and counselors
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training, as necessary
Working Conditions
  • Ability to receive and share information and/or instruction from internal/external customers through spoken expression
  • Ability to manipulate tools/equipment/keyboards
  • Ability to perform work while standing and/or walking for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours a day
  • Ability to see detailed information, naturally or with correction
Salary

CLER/401: $14.00 minimum/hour (individual salary calculation is based on applicable experience)
