Job summary

Jobtailor in Texas is seeking an organized office clerk to support daily administration. You will perform routine clerical tasks, maintain records, answer phones, route mail, and assist with basic HR duties as needed.

Strong attention to detail, reliable attendance, and the ability to learn quickly are essential. 1–2 years of related experience and a High School diploma are required, with flexible availability for nights, weekends, and some holidays.

  • Enter information into computers and prepare correspondence.
  • Prepare receipts, bills, invoices, statements, and checks.
  • Maintain records, verify information, and resolve routine problems.
  • Open and route mail; answer correspondence and outgoing mail.
  • Answer phones, convey messages, and run errands.
  • May assist with HR tasks including payroll processing.
  • Comply with safety and risk management policies.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Perform activities such as photocopying, compiling records, filing, tabulating, posting information, and scheduling appointments.
  • Write types or enter information into computer to prepare correspondence.
  • Prepare issues and send out receipts, bills, policies, invoices, statements, and checks.
  • Maintain records, prepare forms, verify information, and resolve routine problems.
  • Conduct research when necessary.
  • Operate various office machines.
  • Open and route incoming mail, answer correspondence and prepare outgoing mail.
  • Answer telephone, convey messages and run errands.
  • May receive, count, and deposit cash, as needed.
  • May include human resources functions (including benefit administration, personnel action forms, and payroll processing) for the unit as well as the district and region.
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Report all accidents and injuries promptly.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Serve as a lead unit clerk performing more advanced non-routine varied clerical duties by standard procedures.
  • Multi-task performing activities such as photocopying, compiling records, filing, tabulating, posting information, and scheduling appointments.
  • May perform general accounting and complete SFE financial reports according to SFE policy and procedures.
  • May perform accounting and financial functions for multiple units.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years related experience.
  • Must have basic phone and computer skills (email, texting, etc.).
  • Willingness to be open to learning and growing.
  • Maturity of judgment and behavior.
  • Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule is helpful.
  • Must comply with any dress code requirements.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Attends work and shows up for a scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity.
  • Presents self in a highly professional manner to others and understands that honesty and ethics are essential.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
