Located on the outskirts of Lake Placid, NY, Camp Treetops and North Country School sit on a 333-acre campus amid majestic mountain peaks in New York State’s Adirondack Park. Since 1921 and 1938 respectively, we have been nationally renowned for pioneering educational programs rooted in progressive practices and experiential learning. Both Camp and School guide children to engage the natural world, take on intellectual and physical challenges in a nurturing community, and cultivate independence and creativity.
North Country School & Camp Treetops seeks a highly organized, dependable, and collaborative Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of both programs year-round. Serving as a central hub for the main office, this role helps ensure the smooth flow of communication, logistics, records management, travel coordination, and administrative systems across campus.
Our campus shifts with the seasons—serving a junior boarding and day school community during the academic year and a vibrant summer camp program from June through August. The Administrative Assistant works closely with families, faculty, staff, and leadership while helping the community navigate those evolving rhythms. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, adaptable, warm, and comfortable, balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, community‑centered environment. This role moves with the rhythms of campus life—busier stretches around major events, travel days, and the opening and closing of each season will occasionally require evening and weekend work.
As an integral part of the main office team, your work will support the daily rhythms and operations that keep both North Country School & Camp Treetops running smoothly. Your responsibilities will span front office coordination, family communication, student travel logistics, records management, and event support—shifting in response to the needs of the community throughout the year.

You will arrange bus transportation and car services for travel days, coordinate staff chaperones for trips to and from Albany Airport, New York City, and JFK, and help ensure students move safely and smoothly throughout the year. You will also arrange bus transportation with the Lake Placid Central School for all‑school trips to Whiteface Mountain and Mt. Pisgah.
This role also serves as one of the Designated School Official (DSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS), maintains records related to international students, and tracks student passports.
You will help maintain organized student records and ensure timely, clear communication with families throughout the year. This includes processing and distributing student reports, uploading transcripts and supporting materials for secondary school applications, responding to routine records requests, and processing and mailing weekly camper letters and end‑of‑summer counselor letters to camp families.
You will play a supporting role in major school and camp events throughout the year, including Arrival Day, Thanksgiving/Family Weekend and the Homestay Program, Graduation, Camp Opening Day, Visitors’ Weekend, and Camp Closing Day. You will collaborate closely with the Camp Office Assistant during the summer and provide year‑round administrative support to faculty, staff, and the broader community as needed. You will also assist the Director of Admissions during the summer with scheduling secondary school admission visits for the fall term.
