Job summary

The State of Indiana invites applicants for an administrative role at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. The position supports a facility-wide program area, reviews structures, administers staff functions, and helps communicate goals and policies with diverse stakeholders.

A bout Indiana State Prison:

Indiana State Prison is a level‑four maximum‑security facilitylocatedin Michigan City, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 2,400 incarcerated adult males. As the oldestcorrectional facilityin the state, it has a long history andoperateson a secured 24‑acre campus with tenmannedtowers. The prison grounds also include a level‑two facility with a capacity of 385 incarcerated adult males. Staffmaintaina clean, orderly environment while prioritizing safety and security. Programs available to incarcerated individuals support personal development and re‑entry preparation where applicable. The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Provides advanced administrative support to an agency, department, or facility.
  • Reviews the organizational structure and functions of assigned program area to recommend changes to promote effectiveness.

  • Represents program administrator in meetings with representative of other agencies, and interested public to explain and interpret program goals, policies, and procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to analyze, update and write procedures and policies.

A degree is not required. However, at least 5+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
