Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is seeking an Administrative Assistant to act as the central administrative hub in a fast-paced environment. You will manage communications, coordinate calendars, assist with budgets, and help implement improved document workflows to support better health outcomes in Mississippi.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and Advanced Microsoft Office skills, plus strong written and verbal communication and the ability to work autonomously across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Visio).
  • Proficiency navigating Outlook, scheduling meetings, and using video call software.
  • Top-tier communication skills with professional interaction with coworkers, managers and customers.
  • Clearly writing professional memos, emails, documents and reports without errors.
  • Exceptional critical thinking with ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with annual budget preparation and maintenance including reviewing expense reports and creating purchase orders.

What You’ll Do:


  • Serve as the primary gatekeeper, managing communications, guiding external and internal customers, authoring internal memos, and maintaining pristine, secure filing systems.

  • Evaluate existing administrative workflows and design smarter, faster, and more reliable processes for document control, digital filing, and information routing.

  • Synthesize data into concise memos, presentations, and reports.

  • Streamline communication workflows, anticipating roadblocks, and implementing clever solutions to ensure communications are effective.

  • Manage calendars, scheduling meetings, coordinating team calendars, and handling travel arrangements.

  • Answering phone calls with a professional and enthusiastic tone, helping to resolve inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Assisting with business area’s annual budget preparation and maintenance including reviewing expense reports, completing check requests and creating purchase orders.


Job-Specific Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Visio).

  • Proficiency navigating Outlook, scheduling meetings, and using video call software.
