Job Summary

The Administrative Nurse Manager maintains the standards of practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement. The Administrative Nurse Manager actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center. This position is accountable to the Clinical DON for overall management of the Resource Center systems, processes, and personnel to ensure compliance with the standards and regulations of the Montefiore Health System and Regulatory Agencies. Accountable with the Associate Clinical Director IV and Members of Nursing Executive Council in a shared governance model to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the scope of practice for nursing service staff, nursing professional practice standards and patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Integrates management/leadership skills into daily clinical/administrative practice and provides a consistent leadership/management approach.

• Executes plans, policies, programs and projects in an organized and timely manner.
• Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and change in work and business practices, procedures, and policies, including service orientation and continuous process improvement.
• Forms and leads effective teams to accomplish departmental, divisional and organizational objectives.
• Communicates clear expectations, provides feedback and coaching, and conducts effective performance reviews.
• Develops and implements an effective workforce planning strategy in alignment with available resources, ensuring staffing plans for competent nurses and staff.
• Responsible for oversight of academic teaching within the program, engaging 1-2 NP students per year for training as a Psychiatric NP preceptee, managing academic relationships with local MSN programs, and providing supervision and coverage for Med Management, Treatment Resistant Depression Suite, and other nursing related needs.

Qualifications

• MS preferred; BSN required.
• New York State License for Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an R.N.
• Certification preferred in specialty or efforts to achieve certification.
• 5 plus years of clinical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of management experience preferred.
• Demonstrates clinical leadership, problem solving skills, competency and principles of Montefiore Excellence.
• Computer literate.
• Excellent interpersonal relationships, effective English communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal), ability to problem solve, motivate, develop and coach individuals and groups, confront issues appropriately, and think creatively.
• Strong commitment to furthering institutional performance measures through interdisciplinary teamwork is essential.
