An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a dedicated Administrative Assistant to support clinical operations at their Ambulatory Surgery Center. The Administrative Assistant (Clinical Support) will provide temporary assistance to the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) team, supporting clinical operations and administrative tasks. This role is designed to offer hands-on clinical experience for a pre-medical student, accommodating a flexible schedule around academic commitments. The position starts May 12, 2025, and continues through August 8, 2025, with potential for extension based on performance and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Support : Assist nursing staff in preparing patients for procedures and supporting post-operative care under direct supervision.
Chart Preparation : Organize and prepare patient charts for operating room (OR) cases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
IV Equipment Setup : Assist in preparing IV equipment and supplies for OR procedures, following established protocols.
ASC Callbacks : Conduct follow-up calls to patients post-procedure to check on recovery and document feedback, as directed by clinical staff.
Room and Bed Turnover : Support efficient turnover of beds and procedure rooms, maintaining a clean and organized environment in compliance with ASC standards.
Administrative Support : Perform additional clerical tasks as needed, such as filing, data entry, or scheduling assistance, to support ASC operations.
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent; current enrollment in a pre-medical or related undergraduate program preferred.
Availability :
June 2, 2025 – August 8, 2025 : Available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays before 10 : 00 AM and after 12 : 30 PM (after 3 : 00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to labs); available all day Fridays.
Skills :
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Basic computer proficiency for data entry and chart management.
Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team coordination.
Experience : No prior clinical experience required; eagerness to learn and a professional attitude are essential.
Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for extended periods, lift light equipment, and assist with room turnover.
Supervision
The Administrative Assistant will work under the direct supervision of ASC clinical staff, including nurses and administrative coordinators (e.g., Pamela, Yahaira, Mikayla). All clinical tasks will be performed in accordance with ASC protocols and under licensed staff guidance.
This role is based in the Ambulatory Surgery Center, a fast-paced clinical setting. The Administrative Assistant will interact with patients, clinical staff, and administrative personnel, gaining exposure to healthcare operations and patient care.
