Under limited supervision, the Administrative Coordinator/HR Liaison for the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Neuroscience at the University of South Carolina Floyd School of Medicine will oversee, manage, and coordinate the department’s administrative operations, personnel management, and support services. We seek a collaborative, competent, and dedicated individual to join our outstanding team of faculty, staff, and students in supporting excellence in our research, education, and service missions. This position is responsible for managing all departmental personnel activities, including the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and personnel administration of faculty, staff, and students. The incumbent serves as the department’s primary liaison to the Office of Human Resources and the university’s time management system, while also providing comprehensive administrative support for the department’s research and teaching missions. The department maintains a robust, externally funded research program and supports the educational missions of the Floyd School of Medicine through instruction and training of medical, graduate, and undergraduate students. This position works closely with administrative colleagues and provides support to approximately 18 full-time faculty members, plus research staff and graduate students. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to conducting business lawfully, ethically, and with integrity by consistently adhering to all applicable university policies, compliance requirements, procedures, and regulations.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications | Knowledge of or ability to learn UofSC personnel procedures, including experience with UofSC practices and procedures related to managing departmental human resources. Experience or skilled at use of online electronic forms and platforms including personnel management, T/L-ABS, PeopleAdmin, travel, and purchasing and some experience with PeopleSoft and University fiscal management systems. Knowledge of student-related procedures and practices, plus ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities| Skills needed in computer/internet fluency, demonstrated experience with human resources procedures and policies, and ability to multitask with attention to detail. Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established department policies and procedures and maintaining confidential records. Skilled use of computers and applications such as Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, faculty and students. Conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
