Job summary

Responsibilities

• Comply with all federal and state safety regulations for school buses.
• Perform pre-trip checks for mechanical defects.
• Notify transportation director of mechanical issues or lateness.
• Maintain discipline on the bus and report undisciplined students.
• Transport only authorized students to/from stops.
• Report accidents and complete required reports.
• Operate according to assigned route and schedule.
• Communicate lateness or absence to the director.
• Collaborate with the director on parent communications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Adel DeSoto Minburn is seeking dynamic drivers to provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid CDL license and bus driver's permit to drive a bus
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Completed required trainings before interacting with students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Safety:

• Compliant with all Federal and State laws and mandatory safety regulations for school buses
• Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects
• Notifies the transportation director in case of mechanical failure or lateness
• Maintains discipline on the bus and reports any undisciplined students to the proper authority.
• Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
• Transports only authorized students
• Discharges students only at authorized stops
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports
• Current on required trainings

Operations and Communication:

• Keeps to assigned bus route & schedule
• Keeps assigned bus clean
• Reports to work for assigned schedules
• Communicates to the transportation director if late or absent
• Partners with transportation director when necessary to address parents
• Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips
• Performs other duties as assigned

REPORTS TO: Transportation Director

EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated by the transportation director
